Rental Terms

Payment Terms

Payment can be made using cash, EFT, MasterCard, VISA or AMEX.

A 1.8% surcharge applies on VISA and Mastercard transactions. A 3% surcharge for AMEX.

A bond of $1,000 is payable three days prior to picking up the caravan. Payment can be made by cash or credit card or by bank

transfer. Please be aware that bond monies paid, including cash payments, will not be refunded upon return of the caravan, but

will be repaid within 7 days in accordance with Terms & Conditions.

Rental Terms

  1. The rental charge is including GST and insurance.
  2. A security bond is payable prior to departure. The bond is held to cover any damage observed when vehicle is returned. Any observed damage will be deducted from bond amount.
  3. The minimum age of any renter must be 25 years unless agreed to by Geelong caravan Rentals. The minimum age of any person driving any vehicle towing the caravan must be 25 years unless agreed to by Geelong caravan Rentals. All renters must hold and produce a copy of a legal Australian driver’s license prior to departure
  4. The renters or drivers must not have lost their license twice in the five years prior to the date of this agreement.
  5. Only people nominated on this rental agreement are permitted to tow the nominated caravan.
  6. Rental fees and the security bond must be paid prior to pickup as per agreed terms. Bond will be refunded within 7 business days, less any relevant charges.
  7. The caravan must be returned to the nominated and agreed upon address on or before the “return date” of the rental agreement.
  8. Generally, the extension of any rental period would only be considered before the “return date” of the rental agreement and may not always be possible. It is in the renters interest to give as much notice of the request as possible.
  9. Early returns for any reason are not refundable. Any late returns will be charged at $300 per day or loss of bond unless previously arranged and agreed to 48 hours prior to completion of rental period.
  10. The rental caravan is to be returned to in a ‘clean and tidy’ condition unless otherwise agreed to, taking into account internal packing procedures to avoid damage to internal furniture. Failure to do so will incur a charge against your bond. If the caravan is not cleaned to a satisfactory condition, a cleaning fee will be deducted from your bond at a rate of $60.00 per hour or a maximum of $240.00. Caravans that are fitted with toilets must have the toilet cartridge emptied before return or pick-up, irrespective of an agreement by Geelong Caravan Rentals to clean the caravan for a fee. Failure to do so will incur a charge against your bond of $100. Awnings must be returned cleaned and dried, irrespective of an agreement by Geelong Caravan Rentals to clean the caravan for a fee. Failure to do so will incur a cleaning charge of $60 per hour, or a maximum of $240.
  11. Awnings must be carefully managed. Awning damage is not covered by insurance. Awning replacement, depending upon size, may cost up to $2500. The renter agrees to pay for any damage or total loss of awning that may exceed the bond amount to a maximum of $2500.
  12. Recovery of the caravan from any other location other than what is agreed will result in a minimum charge of $120.00 plus 80 cents per kilometre (depending on its location and distance) per day (or part thereof).
  13. The caravan is covered by a comprehensive insurance policy. In the event of a claim being made, there is an excess of $1000.00 payable by the renter. Insurance does not cover recklessness or malicious damage or awning repair/replacement.
  14. The cost of repair for any damage is the responsibility of the renter and must be reported to Geelong Caravan Rentals before any repair can be authorized and undertaken. Failure to do so could result in alternate and/or further work being undertaken at the renter’s expense. Alternatively, repairs may be better organised after return to Geelong Caravan Rentals.
  15. Any rim or tyre repair or replacement is the responsibility of the renter and any replacement must be the same or equivalent tyre. Failure to do so may result in a charge for the correct tyre to be fitted.
  16. Any amount due to the rental provider by way of insurance excess, cost of repairs, cleaning levy, recovery charge, tyre damage and or late return will be sought firstly from the security bond and the balance returned to the rental user within 14 days (in most cases the security bond is returned in full and usually within 7 business days). Awning damage refer to point 12
  17. The renter agrees that the rentee shall not be liable or accountable for any costs due to inconvenience, theft of any of the equipment or as a result of damage during the period of the rental including but not limited to; meals, flights, car rental, phone calls or any other costs incurred by the renter. The rentee agrees that the renter shall not be held accountable for any damages to persons and/or property in regards to the rentee’s use of the caravan.
  18. Care should be taken not to reduce the voltage level of the deep cycle heavy-duty (DCHD) battery below 12.2 volts. In the event that the battery is flattened to 12.2 volts or below, a recharge fee of $75.00 will be imposed to cover disconnection of the battery and removal to a qualified auto-electrician for recharging (these DCHD batteries will not recover on a trickle charge or similar appliance). Should the battery not recover, a replacement fee at current retail will apply.
  19. It is a condition of rental that there will be no smoking in the caravan. Camp fire smoke must also be avoided. Failure to observe this will result in a cleaning and airing fee.
  20. The caravan is not to be taken on off-road driving, across creeks or rivers or taken over damaged roads where the caravan may be at risk. No off road, dirt road or damaged road use is permitted.
  21. Pets may be allowed, but only with the approval of the Geelong Caravan Rentals
